USCC pushes for a pedestrian-friendly Square

As we await the release of the Department of Transportation’s study on Union Square, which was commissioned in conjunction with the north end redesign, we can’t help but note the increasing importance of traffic as it relates to life on the Square.

USCC considers the Square as a whole: not just the Park at its center, but also the pedestrian and traffic flows which surround it. We have been working with local, nonprofit transportation planning organizations, Project for Public Spaces (pps.org) and Transportation Alternatives (transalt.org), which are interested in evaluating with USCC, the community and the BID the extent to which the streets around the Square serve it and the neighborhood.
